Matthew Cox Caller 107 Tour

Welcome to the Caller 107 Blog Tour. Mathew Cox is one of the best authors on the market today so when I was asked to participate I couldn't turn it down.

Excerpt

When thirteen-year-old Natalie Rausch said she would die to meet DJ Crazy Todd, she did not mean to be literal.

Two years is a long time to be stuck between two people that want nothing more than to destroy each other. A tween crush on the larger-than-life jock from a local radio station is the only trace of a
once-happy life ruined by warring parents.

Whenever WROK 107 ran a contest, she would dive for the phone, getting busy signals and dead air every time. She never expected to get through, but at least with her best friend at her side, it used to be fun.

Before her parents ruined that too.

Her last desperate attempt to get their attention, falling in with a dangerous group of older teens, goes as wrong as possible. With no one left to blame for her mess of a life but herself, karma comes full circle and gives her just a few hours to make up for two years’ worth of mistakes–or be forever lost.

Absolutely Addicting! The Dead Game Susanne Leist

I've had this book in my Kindle for a while but hadn't gotten a chance to read until last weekend. My eyes stayed glued to the page even though I was fighting sleep I couldn't put it down. Susanne Leist has a vivid and wild imagination!

Review
Susanne Leist debut novel The Dead Game is a gripping, terror filled read from the opening! Linda moves to the small, quaint ocean front town  Oasis located along Northern Florida’s coastline. She paints a picturesque scene reminding me of Neptune Beach or any beach further North, I’m a North Florida resident, with the exception of the hill but it’s a book and anything can happen and in this fabulous read it does. As breathtaking as Oasis is the town is full of evil. Protagonist Linda opens a small bookstore and makes friends with all the other young adults in town. There is a distinct separation between the young and the older residents who live on the hill and have creepy green windows. All the young townsfolk are invited to a party at End House, the ultra creepy house at the end of the hill. The spooky fun and games begin here.

The Dead Game is filled with nonstop surprises that kept my toes curled. When I thought they had solved and ended one dilemma another popped up. Deadly twists and turns wreak havoc on the residents of Oasis as supernatural creatures play horrifying games.
Did I mention the vampires? I love supernatural reads and don’t want to read something that’s been done before. Susanne’s take on vampires is fresh and new but you’ll have to read to know. She takes the age old vampire legend and turns it into something I’ve never read before piquing my intrigue. I don’t believe in giving away spoilers but I will say this novel is left with a cliffhanger that has me hungering for a sequel.

Absolutely addicting!

How To Date Dead Guys Blog Tour

It's time! The How To Date Dead Guys Blog tour is here! I fell in love with this story. It had me rolling in laughter and anxious to continue reading!

My Review

How To Date Dead Guys by Ann Noser is a hysterical new adult urban-fantasy novel. Emma Roberts is a college sophomore who seriously lacks any amount of self-esteem She thinks of herself as a complete wall flower. Her dorm-mate Chrissy is the complete opposite. She’s perky, pink and pretty. When Chrissy’s sister comes to visit with her Book of Shadows, casts a couple harmless spells and leaves the book behind, Emma then finds it. When the guy Emma is crushing on Mike dies in front of her while swimming across a dangerous river during the night she decides to try the Book of Shadows and casts a spell to bring him back. Only she doesn’t get Mike but someone else. Everything starts to go haywire from there and dead people become her closest friends.

The first person narrative in How To Date Dead guys brings Emma’s thoughts and insecurities to the front in this novel. She captures vividly how this young woman thinks and makes her a relatable and lovable character. Throughout the story the reader will see her transform from mousy and scared to a brave young woman who has far more strength and adventure in her soul than she gives herself credit for. She makes new friends, both living and dead,  helps everyone with absolutely nothing to gain for herself, and meets her first “real” boyfriend.

A true page turner.

Meet Ann Noser

My to-do list dictates that I try to cram 48 hours of living into a day instead of the usual 24.  I’ve chosen a life filled with animals.  I train for marathons with my dog, then go to work as a small animal veterinarian, and finish the day by tripping over my pets as I attempt to convince my two unruly children that YES, it really IS time for bed.  But I can’t wait until the house is quiet to write; I have to steal moments throughout the day.  Ten minutes here, a half hour there, I live within my imagination.

Like all busy American mothers, I multi-task.  I work out plot holes
during runs.  Instead of meditating, I type madly during yoga stretches.  I find inspiration in everyday things:  a beautiful smile, a heartbreaking song, or a newspaper article on a political theory.  For example, a long drive in the dark listening to an NPR program on the SMILEY FACE MURDERS theory made me ask so many questions that I wrote HOW TO DATE DEAD GUYS to answer them to my satisfaction.

I’d love to have more time to write (and run, read, and sleep), but until I find Hermione Granger’s time turner, I will juggle real life with the half-written stories in my head.  Main characters and plot lines intertwine in my cranium, and I need to let my writing weave the tales on paper so I can find out what happens next.

Blurb

College sophomore Emma Roberts remembers her mother’s sage advice:  “don’t sleep around, don’t burp in public, and don’t tell
anyone you see ghosts”.  But when charming Mike Carlson drowns in the campus river under her watch, Emma’s sheltered life shatters.

Blamed for Mike’s death and haunted by nightmares, Emma turns to witchcraft and a mysterious Book of Shadows to bring him back.  Under a Blood Moon, she lights candles, draws a pentacle on the campus bridge, and casts a spell.  The invoked river rages up against her, but she escapes its fury.  As she stumbles back to the dorm, a stranger drags himself from the water and follows her home. And he isn't the only one.

Instead of raising Mike, Emma assists the others she stole back from the dead—a pre-med student who jumped off the bridge, a desperate victim determined to solve his own murder, and a frat boy Emma can’t stand…at first.  More comfortable with the dead than the living, Emma delves deeper into the seductive Book of Shadows.  Her powers grow, but witchcraft may not be enough to protect her against the vengeful river and the killers that feed it their victims.

Inspired by the controversial Smiley Face Murders, HOW TO DATE DEAD GUYS will ignite the secret powers hidden deep within each of us.

Excerpt

On January 18, 2012, we all convened in the courthouse for the Motion for Parenting Time hearing. My dad and I arrived with my attorney, but Tyler loved an audience so he brought his dad, step-mom, and his new on-again off-again girlfriend, Heather. Tyler walked in with his posse in tow, cocky as hell. It took all of two minutes for the judge to knock him off his feet.
The Judge addressed our respective attorneys. “Why are we here?”
“Your honor,” Tyler’s attorney began, “my client has clearly been denied his parenti—”
The Judge didn’t even let him finish. “How?” She turned to my attorney. “Don?”
“Your honor, as you can see in the divorce decree, there was supposed to be a review when the minor child turned twelve-months-old. The Defendant has ignored that review.”
“I—if I may, your honor,” Tyler’s attorney sputtered.
“I see the review in the decree. It’s here in black and white,” she told Tyler’s attorney. “What is the problem? Why didn’t you understand the review? Your client signed the divorce decree.”
Tyler’s attorney tried again. “But your honor—”
The judge cut him off. “There is to be a review conducted by the Friend of the Court referee assigned to the parties. Until then, the Defendant will continue his parenting time schedule as agreed upon in the divorce decree. Dismissed.”
And that was it. After eight police reports and numerous harassing text messages, phone calls, and e-mails, we won. As Don and Tyler’s attorney went to speak with the clerk to file the necessary paperwork, Don told us to wait for him outside the courtroom.
As we exited the courtroom, the hallway was so packed with people that my dad and I were only able to find enough space to lean against the wall. We were talking about the court proceedings when we looked up at saw Tyler and his new girlfriend standing right across from us.
“Why do you lie about everything?” Tyler screamed.
Heather walked up to me and stood about an inch from my face. “As a mother myself, you should be happy that Tyler is the father of your child.”
My jaw dropped. “I’m sorry but I don’t know you.”
She smirked. “Well you’re going to get to know me, bitch.”
Tyler made a big show of pulling her from me like I was going to punch her or something. By this time, everyone in the hallway was watching us. We were pure entertainment.
Heather continued her rant. “Two times in the psych ward, Megan? What a great mother you are.”
“Where is your mom, the real mother of our child?” Tyler screamed. “She’s the one who takes care of Madelyne.”
My dad and I tried to move away from Tyler and Heather but they followed us.
“Awww…” Heather mocked. “Do you have to take a Xanax because of your anxiety?”
“Go take your Xanax and sleeping pills, you drug addict,” Tyler shouted.
Finally, Don emerged from the courtroom and pulled us into a quiet corridor. He explained that I needed to call our referee to set-up a meeting to discuss a visitation schedule. I told Don about the verbal assault by Tyler and Heather. Don said he would call Tyler’s attorney to let him know that Heather would not be allowed in my house.
Upon leaving the courthouse, Heather screamed, “See you on Sunday, Megan.”
I turned toward her and said calmly, “I don’t know you, but you are not welcome in my home.”
That night, Tyler sent me multiple texts attacking my mothering skills, my supposed drug addictions, how he was going to fight for joint custody of Madelyne, how Heather would be accompanying him for his visitations, and a barrage of other insults:

“Get a life already”
“Don’t you have something better to do than wasting your parents’ money?”
“Go take your pills and relax, oh yeah, then your parents would have to watch our daughter. Oh yeah, they already do.”
“Go talk to your friends. Oh yeah, you don’t have any because of how crazy you are.”
“Interesting to know you’ve been to the hospital a couple of times. You really need to get it together.”
“Better go call your lawyer and make up some more stuff about me.”
“Don’t be mad at your sorry life.”
“I am sure living with Mom and Dad the rest of your life will be fun.”
“When you get a job, then you can pay me child support. Fun.”

I finally had to turn my phone off at midnight.

Monday Funday: Summer's Last Hoorah!

Here it is July 29th and my summer, freedom and writing time are drawing to a close. A summer isn't summer without spending time at the beach. After all I live in Florida. My daughter, best friend and myself headed out to Jax and Neptune beaches for some fun in the sun.

Umbrella $15, Lunch at The Flying Iguana $20 a day at the beach with two of the people I love most in the world- priceless!

The close to 85 degree Atlantic water felt awesome against the blistering 100 degree sun. North Florida beaches aren't the most scenic but they are the closest to me and generally have calm warm waters, notice the straight coastline in the pics. Not too many surfers head this way, most go further south.

It was a day of fun and relaxation for us. The lifeguards seemed to be having a lot of fun as well. They were having such a good time when we left we all had the same thought on our minds...I wonder what it takes to be a lifeguard? I know I would never qualify as I'm only an OK swimmer.

A few families and friends dotted the sands, bicyclers rode by along with people just taking a mid day stroll. Every so often the clouds would cover the sun and a breeze washed over us. It was a fantastic day!
The Boardwalk. It's in back of the hotel behind the bushes.

Myself, my daughter, and still in the womb granddaughter.

                                               Lunch!

I leave you with songs that mean summer to me

Hot Couple by Candi Silk a deliciously sensual read!

On today's book menu is an erotica novel that is both passionate and fun. I read the entire novel in one sitting! Yes, it was that good. I love Cand's style and the character's she created. They have a lot of naughty fun in Hot Couple.

Review

Hot Couple by Candi Silk was a wonderfully playful read. An attractive 30ish couple, Drew and Nicole, who spent their years developing and growing their professions neglected their sex life. Not uncommon in today’s world. The successful couple, still in love, decided to spice up their relationship a tad watching some kinky X-rated movies. The movie watching led to an idea of joining in with another couple for real. A successful, attractive younger couple, Michelle and Jess, had recently moved into their neighborhood.  Drew and Nicole agree on asking the younger couple if they’d be interested in swapping spouses.  That is where the fun starts!

The plot in Hot Couple is simple and the story has an easy flow, making it a quick, enjoyable read. Candi’s style of writing is descriptive and detailed but not vulgar. I add that because sometimes erotica can get tastelessly naughty. The character’s in Hot Couple get naughty in a fun, agreeable and light hearted fashion. There is a good mix between dialogue, word choice, kinky scenes and characterization to develop the story and personalities. Drew, Nicole, Jess and Michelle are  all intelligent, professional adults participating in explicit and consensual sexual acts. I fell in love in them.

Hot couple is a sweltering hot read that tickles the sexual desires of its readers leaving them ready for more. Within the pages I could feel the passion through each character. They take it slow and sensual, building the suspense for the final climax or two. This novel is tastefully written while effervescent and lively.

A fantastically fun read!

Keep Smiling

This is truly a miscellaneous post. I have so much to say and share as the past week has been a busy one.

Where do I begin. I'll start with Saturday night. My boyfriend and I were driving home from a friends in my truck. The road was dark and I managed to run over a a tree stump. No further details on that. The tree stump busted a huge hole in my front driver's side tire. As luck would have it a gas station was across the street so I pulled in. My boyfriend got out to change the tire but was having a lot of difficulty (I wish I had videoed it). He tried for several minutes to jack up the tire but it barely moved. He had the jack in the right spot it just wasn't cooperating. Then I mentioned, "You still need to get the spare out from under the truck." He tried that as well and couldn't get it out. Within the 30 minutes or so that passed as he attempted to change my tire I asked 2-3 times, "Would you like me to call someone to change it?" meaning like a tow truck. He response, "No, I got it." The usual male response I expected nothing else but was absolutely willing to call and pay someone to change it. Luck struck us again and a man in a large white truck pulled up and offered to help. He had the spare out from under the truck and changed in about 5 minutes. I tell this story not to make fun of my boyfriend; he is the best in many ways. He'd never changed a truck tire, now he has. I tell the story because of the generous heart of the man in the white truck or maybe he just couldn't stand watching my boyfriend struggle so offered help. Either way he helped and it was a generous, kind act.

Now I want to give a huge shout out to all my fans and supporters who have helped make Baby Girl 3: City by the Bay book release last week a success. The book has gone up to #16 and down in ratings but stayed in the top 100! That's amazing. The novella also has gained 4 reviews, fabulous! Even better Books 1 and 2 have gone in and out of the top 100! 3 top selling books in a week. I have been doing the happy dance everyday. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Wishing everyone a wonderful day and keep smiling :-).

Find True North by Richard R. Li

When I was asked if I'd be interested in reviewing this novel I went on Amazon and checked it. I thought sounds interesting, why not. I grabbed a copy of it and was more than amazed by this young man's ability to string words into beautiful moving sentences that rattled my emotions. As a teacher I will say he has true writing ability not seen in many young adults his age. I hope he continues to write and share stories with the world.

Review

Find True North by Richard R. Li is an introspective novel about a young boy growing up in North Korea. Yungsang ‘s mother is arrested as a political threat. His own father turned her in to protect the family. Yungsang’s parents were affluent, his father a physics professor and mother a doctor. This status gave them some privileges such as his Itouch, guitar, and more exposure to the outside world than the average North Korean. As the story unfolds his life after his mother’s arrest becomes more and more chaotic and dangerous. There are those that feel he may be a political threat like his mother. With his life quickly unraveling before his eyes, he seeks assistance in leaving and getting safely to South Korea.

Li’s voice is that of a sarcastic teen who has been taught, ‘do what it takes to survive’. Within the story we see him change from an average teen who has much the same concerns and worries as any youth, his age, to a young man who has dreams and visions beyond the walls of his country. He begins to understand life in a new light, understanding that much of what he had been taught was based on lies. Inwardly he struggles with the loss of his mother, and the negative feelings he has towards his father for his actions. He witnesses his best friend, Woojin, get tormented and bullied by other youths he had thought were his friends. Kwon his 8 year old orphan side-kick takes a beating from the police in Yungsang’s honor while he is powerless to stop it. All he can do is watch. The feelings and raw emotions in him boil to the surface and lay naked and exposed on the pages of this novel.

Find True North written eloquently by Richard R. Li is a powerful and moving tale.

A Breathtaking Place to Visit

I love beach and tropical waters that are clear I can see the fish swimming below the surface. This love has driven me towards visiting the Carribean. The island I want to showcase today is Puerto Rico.

I first visited a few years ago and was overwhelmed with the islands beauty. Everywhere I looked was portraits of lush vegetation scattered with colorful tropical flowers. The island straddles both the Atlantic and the Carribean. I visited the rain forest and traveled to the top, ogled it's many waterfalls, and admired it's myriad of vegetation and life. I traveled through the mangroves to a lake and touched awed over it's water that glows on a gentle touch from the bioluminescent organisms that live in it's water. I have seen much of the east side of the island from San Juan to Fajardo. My next visit I hope to see the west side of the island. Every nook and beach I found to be unique; a special treasure with it's own beauty.

In the Light of the Moon, A.L. Kessler

Today's review is one of my favorite genre's, vampires, werewolves, panthers and other supernatural creatures abound to make an intriguing read in this series. Now that I have read book 1 in the Dark War Chronicles I am antsy to read book 2!

Review

In the Light of the Moon (book 1 in the Dark War Chronicles) by A.L. Kessler has a unique twist on the supernatural. I found nothing “typical” about it, which drew me in as a reader. The protagonist Kass isn’t a normal human, she shifts form into a panther and a strong one at that. Lucius a formidable vampire rescued from her own family as they wanted her dead. Lucius uses her for his own means controlling her ability to shift and only allows it when he wants her to kill another supernatural. She meets a sizzling hot male panther Jax and their inside cats are drawn towards each other. Lucius has other ideas and does his best to keep Jax and Kass estranged but that can’t last forever as the war between supernaturals pushes forward and Jax and Kass attraction towards each other heats up.

Kessler does a phenomenal job using excellent pacing, deep character development and descriptions that will knock the socks off any reader. The novel started to intrigue instantly hooking me into reading. The subsequent flow made this an impossible book to put down. Her words oozed like honey to my mind forcing me to continue. Plot, subplots, romance, and action fill each page. Each character has a personality all their own, some lovable and some very hateable, working together to make this a book you won’t want to pass up reading.

In the Light of the Moon is a rare treat. On to book 2!

Angel Omega Imprisonment Tour

Welcome to the Angel Omega Imprisonment Tour brought to you by Ashley's Addictive Book Promotions. On the menu today is an interview and an exciting excerpt!

Meet author Brandon Godbee

Brandon Godbee resides in Houston, Texas with his family. After graduating from high school, Brandon’s creative spirit and love of singing drove him to major in music. Angel Omega: Imprisonment is Brandon’s first work in writing and he is currently working on Angel Omega: Shattered Soul the next installment in the series.

Interview

What would you like to tell everyone about you that they wouldn't already know from reading your books?

Brandon: I was a vocal performance major while going to college and wanted to be a teacher! Things change!

Can you tell us your latest news?

Brandon: I am currently thinking of Renaming my next book!

When were you first bitten by the writing bug?

Brandon: Three years ago I just sat down one day and started writing. I could never explain it fully because I used to make Cs in composition in College!

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

Bradon: I still don’t consider myself a writer and I really don’t think anyone will ever convince me I am. I am telling a story I have been given and once it’s done I plan on blowing a lot of people’s minds!

What inspired you to write your first book?

Bradon: I don’t really know. I sat down one day and started writing a story I didn’t quite understand and until four months ago I didn’t know how it ended but now I wish I could squeeze my head out into a book so I can get it out!

Do you have a specific writing style?

Brandon: Block things out first, and sprinkle your characters in and let them act the way they do! There have been sometimes I REALLY wanted a chapter to move one direction but when my characters were placed in the book took a beautiful turn!

How did you come up with the title?

Brandon: My title doesn't mean what you think. Angel Omega really means “The Last Angel” but I had to make it all fancy!

What do you want your readers to get out of your novels?

Bradon:
“Sometimes the soul you save might be your very own.”
“Children do not choose their parents; they simply learn from them and choose to be more.”
No matter who you are, or where you’re born you can choose to be more than you are or more than you are condemned to be.

Is the book mostly fantasy or do you think these situations could actually happen?

Brandon: Well if half the stuff happens in the books to come I REALLY hope its fantasy!

Now I love music just as much as reading, I normally listen to music while I am reading. Do you think that you characters have theme songs? What would they be?

Brandon: To many characters to list… but one I know Damien: Daughtry’s Undefeated

Are the experiences fact based or from your imagination?

Brandon: I can see my angels in my head every time I close my eyes so they all exist in my imagination… or at least I hope.

What are your current projects?

Brandon: Angel Omega Shattered Soul (Book 2)

Do you see writing as a career?

Brandon: Currently I am making no money off of it but I can really hope I could write for a living because getting lost in my imagination is awesome!

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

Brandon: Nope… well I’d make Damien a little more of a smart ass!

Can you share a little of your current work with us?  Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Brandon: Book two will end in Anger, Tears, and Sorrow and there is only one soul on this earth who knows what happens at the end of book 2 and I will never say her name! Finding the time to write!

Who designed the covers?

Brandon: It was an image taken from three different pictures and combined into one.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Brandon: Understanding that I was going to take the most notorious character in every horror movie ever created and turn him into a good guy… and make it Believable!

What did you learn from writing your book?

Brandon: That messing around with people’s favorite characters is always makes you want to look over your shoulder!

Do you have any advice for other writers?

Brandon: Block things out, Know where you’re going with the story, never lose that direction, Make each character in your story unique in their own special way (and don’t deviate from that!), Don’t be afraid to (Shock, Disgust, or Anger) your readers. Find one character in the book and mirror your personality onto them so you can feel like part of the story!

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Brandon: That they are the reason I do this, they are the reason I click on reviews and smile every day, that they are the reason I spent all of my savings and went into debt a little to make a story unlike any other! You guys are all so awesome! 

Which comes first? The character's story, or, the idea for the novel?

Brandon: That’s like the chicken or the egg. For me my story came first and then my character’s manifested themselves from it!

What advice do you have for someone who would like to become a published writer?

Brandon: You will be rejected, you will be told no, you will cry in your sleep, but don’t you EVER give up! Always see any criticism as a person trying to make your story better. Always be humble and gracious! And thank EVERYONE YOU CAN!

Is there anything else that you would like to add?

Brandon: Can I get some fries with that?

I just want to say thank you so much for taking the time to answer these for my readers and I look forward to seeing more work from you in the future.

CHAPTER 1
The Wyatts had struggled for months to conceive a child. It was something they had dreamed of since they first met: a home, a family…to be happy. Happiness gave way to worry after six months of trying without success.

Sarah Wyatt had visited a fertility clinic with her husband three months earlier; after much deliberation and a few fights, the Wyatts agreed to go to the clinic again.

Jason Wyatt looked up at the doctor through hazel eyes this time and spoke, concern and worry in his voice. “But doctor, it’s been six months of trying. Pardon us if we are both worried that something may be wrong.” Jason was a very healthy man in his early thirties; he loved to go to the gym and always kept a very clean look about himself. His fair complected skin never hid when he was worried or embarrassed.

The doctor calmly replied, “You’re a couple in your late twenties and early thirties. These things take time for people your age—you’re not as young as you used to be. Come back to me in two months if nothing happens. I will look into prescribing some light fertility drugs for Sarah then.”

As her feelings of regret faded away, Sarah smiled. She looked over at her husband through brown eyes, her long hair falling softly over her light brown skin. Sarah was such a carefree soul; her one hope in life was to have a child. “See, Jason? There’re always options!”

“Wait…Don’t those drugs have that off chance of us having six or seven kids at once?!” A tremble resonated in Jason’s voice.

“That’s only a random occurrence in patients about fifteen percent of the time. Sarah is almost thirty; her body will probably only produce two to four eggs at most with a light dose of the drug.” The doctor grinned.

Jason and Sarah walked out of the doctor’s office and headed to their car, Jason still holding onto his wife. He was not any more at ease after what the doctor had just said about the “light” fertility drugs.

“You know I always wanted a big family,” Sarah said as she smiled and rubbed her husband’s chest.

Jason laughed. “Hon, do you really want that many kids? All at once? That’s going to be really hard on us, trying to take care of all of them. I mean, I don’t like the idea of changing one baby’s diaper, let alone four!” He sounded worried.

Sarah broke free from her husband’s light grasp and walked in a rush to the car, crossing her arms and wearing her emotions on her face.

“Honey!! Wait! I didn’t mean it like that!” Jason ran to catch up to her. “Let’s just go home. I don’t want to have an argument with you…Just take me home, Jason!” Her low voice held back her feelings.

After a long, quiet ride home, Jason and his wife pulled into the driveway of their small two-story home. Sarah looked out at the neighbors, who were playing with their children in the front yard. She continued to watch with a longing she didn’t think anyone understood. I want my own child.

By the time Jason spoke, his throat had gone dry. “You know…We can keep trying. We can keep using that fertility time of the month thing. I just don’t know if drugs are the…” Jason’s eyes focused in on the reflection of his now-crying wife, tears streaming down her face as she clasped the door handle tightly.

Still looking at the family down the road playing in the front yard, Sarah touched the glass, muttering through a shaking voice, “I just want …” She was not able to finish her sentence, though. She opened the door and dashed for the front door of their home, sobbing as she ran.

Jason quickly followed, trying to catch up to his heartbroken wife. “Honey! WAIT!”

Sarah threw herself on the bed in their bedroom, sobbing, her heart breaking into pieces. She clasped her pillow tightly as Jason followed her into the room. Unsure of what to say to offer her comfort, he sat down on his end of the bed and listened to her sob. With desperation in his voice, he said the only thing he could think of saying. “Sarah, I love you—”

She looked up from her pillow. Her sobbing had stopped, and her eyes looked at him not with love and endearment but with rage. Her voice once again came out low as, still shaking from her previous crying, she repeated his phrase. “You love me? YOU LOVE ME?! Jason, do you think just saying that is going to make things better? That I’m going to forget everything you said back there at the doctor’s office?!” She was so angry, so confused, that she was panting. She sat up and glared at her husband. “We talked about this since the day we met! It’s something we’ve wanted all our lives…A normal family, Jason—A NORMAL FAMILY! We have a chance to have that family and you…you throw it back in my face, not wanting it!?”

As Jason looked down at his sobbing wife, all his anger and rage melted away. He watched the woman he loved in so much pain, knowing he’d caused it. Feeling worthless and completely helpless, he sat down at their piano and started to play a soft, beautiful song.

Sarah looked up from her pillow, sniffling. “That’s not going to work, Jason. I’m still mad at you!”

In a soft, unsteady voice, Jason began to sing to his wife. “No more talk of darkness,/ forget these wide eyed fears/I’m here, nothing can harm you/my words will warm and calm you.” He looked over at his wife with a soft smile. Her eyes were on him, her rage fading and her tears receding. “Let me be your freedom,/let daylight dry your tears./I’m here with you, beside you/to guard you and to guide you.”

The Writing Process Blog Tour

I first want to thank Susanne Leist for inviting me on this blog tour. I feel honored.

“The purpose of this tour is to showcase fellow writers with emphasis around the writing process itself to spread great words, get insights, and to show support in this isolating craft we embark on.”

1. What am I working on at the moment?
Currently I'm working on a few projects; last minute touches to Baby Girl 3, editing Eye of The Storm for hopeful publication this fall, and the Baby Girl 4- all the answers will be revealed.

2. How does my work differ from others in it's genre?
My work differs in that I don't stick to one genre. I write stories as the force their way to my conscious mind. Once I begin writing they grow into something I never planned. I don't think about the genre until after the story is written. My creativity can't be wrapped into a box with a bow; it's more like the open box that was knocked over by a child and now child and dog are playing inside it, dragging it around the house and yard.

3.Why do I write what I do?
I enjoy it. I have seen and endured a lot in my lifetime and it all forces it's way out in my writing. No, my books are not about me but when I write the creepy darkness comes out and settles into character form within my books. In the case of As Snow Falls it was more of an escape from reality.

4. How does my writing process work?
A spark of an idea ignites my brain. The spark turns into a full fledged fire which has to be written to put out the growing flames. I write until that story is told then I wait it out a few months and read and edit again looking for inconsistencies. When I'm pleased I send it out for others opinions, edit again and send it off to be copy edited. Then edit again.

I am really excited to share Baby Girl Book 3's first review! The book will be released on July 15th. I want to thank Marcha Fox for the review and I'm so glad she enjoyed the story. I also want to give a little background. This segment takes place in San Francisco. I was born and spent the first 19 years of my life in the S.F. area. To this day it is still my favorite city and I will always have the romantic and amazing view of the downtown while coming over the bay bridge etched in my memory. I want to thank my two wonderful daughters for their help with the cover. Peggy my youngest is the gorgeous cover model and Renae my oldest is the talented photographer.

Murder In D Minor by Diane Bixler

I absolutely loved this book! Diane Bixler really did an awesome job I couldn't put the book down. The backdrop for this novella is St. Augustine Florida which is very close to where I live. It's my favorite city in all of Florida so that naturally intrigued me. Her writing style is also very enjoyable. If there was such a thing as 6 star reviews I would have given this book one.

Review

Murder in D Minor by Diane Bixler is an awesome murder/ mystery novella. I couldn’t put it down. It reminded me of a Murder She Wrote episode or a game of Clue where all the little details come together at the end. Cary and her brother Thomas are at a Halloween party when  a man is murdered. Johnathan the victim is the conductor of the college (Flagler College) orchestra, which Cary plays for. She is also a teacher at the college. Cary’s brother Thomas is a police officer and he begins investigating the murder while Cary and best friend Katelynn involve themselves in their own sleuthing, picking up small clues here and there.

There was so much in this story that intrigued me. The story is set in St. Augustine, Florida only a short drive from where I live and I could personally relate to all the landmarks she mentions in the story. I also love the way she gives the reader only enough leads to not spoil the surprise but keeps the reader engaged. Her pacing was impeccable as well as her character building. She used a perfect mix of dialogue and description to set the ambience of the story. I also have to say I loved the musical twist she added.

A wonderfully clever read!

Addison Kline author of Black Horse

I wholeheartedly believe in authors supporting authors and recently I was given an opportunity or rather I took the opportunity to sign up for Addison Kline's street team. One of the perks is I was given the opportunity to read Black Horse part 1 in the Breaking Black series. Book 2 will be released soon and she's having a release party on Facebook August 16th. It's public. Onto the meat of my post.

Review

Addison Kline’s Black Horse the first book in the Breaking Black series  was an entertaining and enjoyable read. Averi’s parent’s and an elder brother were killed when she was a child by an evil man who happens to be the biological father of her best friend/boyfriend Colt. Her two living brothers have a difficult time swallowing the relationship between their sister and Colt, son of the vile Black Horse himself. Although Colt is nothing like his father. He’s kind, protective and extremely gorgeous in what seemed to me a rugged sort of fashion. The plot thickens as Black horse is released from prison and out for Averi which brings her brothers and Colt together to fight for her safety.

The backdrop for the story is Texas and fittingly so as guns, action, and good old fashioned male hormones line the pages. Kline does an excellent job painting the scenery and setting the mood for a story that puts the reader in the midst of everything and turning page after page. I read the book in an entire sitting! The suspense builds quickly leading to a heated climax and a surprise ending.

For a reader who like a romance with a little extra bang, then this is the book.
