My review says it all! A very different kind of story.
My Review:
The Reflections of Queen Snow White is a different kind of story. “Different” is what caught my eye. We’ve all seen the Disney version of fairy tales and know the princesses all too well but what is happily ever after? Does anyone ever wonder what it is? Did the princesses really live a glorified happy life after the charming prince rode in on his white steed and swept her off her feet?
In my opinion this is the anti-fairy tale. The story opens with a sorrowful, mourning Snow White. It is a year since her Prince Charming has passed. They have a daughter Raven whom Snow White can’t even look at because of the resemblance she bares to her father. Broken inside she wanders to her evil step mother’s quarters, now old, dusty with critters taking residence. She stumbles upon the magic mirror and takes the reader on a journey through her “happily ever after”.
David Meredith added dimension and character to a now much older Snow White. We don’t see the young girl anymore instead we see a middle aged distraught woman whom longs to be in the arms of her Prince Charming once again. The plot in this novella is unique. For me that’s a huge plus. I don’t want to read the same thing over and over just a different author. An excellent debut novel.
