Dead Ever After by Charlaine Harris Audiobook Review

I have loved this series since I picked up and read book 1. I've been holding out on reading book 13 Dead Ever After because I didn't want the series to end. And I had tears in my eyes, not because it was sad but because there won't be another. I have to say the ending was good. The entire book was amazing!

For readers not familiar with the Sookie Stackhouse series this is what HBO based the series True Blood on. Book 1 and season 1 are almost alike but that's as far as the similarities between each book and each season go. The series is set in the south and vampires have just "come out" so to speak. There is a lot of political stuff such as equal rights etc. for vamps. Synthetic blood is what made it possible for vampires to join society so to speak. In my opinion this series is genius.

My Review: (my cut and paste audible review)

What did you love best about Dead Ever After?
The same thing I love about every other book in the series. Charlaine Harris has created a vampire/ supernatural/ mystery series that is intriguing, hilarious and very entertaining. Not to mention unlike anything else.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dead Ever After?
For me the end. I have read each and every book in this series, holding off on the final book only because I knew this is it. So the end will stay with me, although I can't give away any spoilers to those who are still holding out.

Which scene was your favorite?
All of them. I loved the story and each scene flowed to the next.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes!

Any additional comments?
The first 12 books in the series I read so listening the this book was a different experience. Johanna Parker nailed the voice and added another dimension to the story. I don't generally read or listen to books twice but I may have to make an exception and listen to them all in audio.

Nightwolves Siren's Sing by Clarrissa Lee Moon

This review is long overdue. I started reading this series about a year ago and fell in love with the author's style, the characters, and the plot. Now that I'm caught up with the series I'll be impatiently waiting for the fourth book in this series.

Review:

Nightwolves Siren’s Song (Memoirs of the Nightwolves Series) by Clarrissa Lee Moon was long anticipated for me. In this segment the war between good and evil is heating up to epic proportions. The Nightwolves are working harder than ever to keep the world from destruction and the takeover of vile evil creatures. There are so many intricate details woven into this amazing story which started with the construction of the Nightwolves; a group of supernatural beings and members of the US military.

Catrina the protagonist isn’t an ordinary vampire. She is a goddess who uses magik. She is a strong willed woman who is tough as it gets. Her wardrobe consists of leather and boots. Her mates, all three or six of them, are deliciously hot but she has no time to enjoy them. With the war heating up members of the Nightwolves are spread across the globe and beyond. Her children are facing incredible odds as one has begun a journey to find his soul mate. Another has been cursed. And Cat’s mother makes a nasty appearance.

As with Clarrissa’s other books her characters and plot are well developed. She paints each scene with vivid detail and explanation of her (Cat’s) beliefs and true legends the book loosely follows. This is not an ordinary vampire saga. If you are looking for supernatural that doesn’t fit the mold than look no further.

Excellent series, waiting for book 4!

In the Light of the Moon, A.L. Kessler

Today's review is one of my favorite genre's, vampires, werewolves, panthers and other supernatural creatures abound to make an intriguing read in this series. Now that I have read book 1 in the Dark War Chronicles I am antsy to read book 2!

Review

In the Light of the Moon (book 1 in the Dark War Chronicles) by A.L. Kessler has a unique twist on the supernatural. I found nothing “typical” about it, which drew me in as a reader. The protagonist Kass isn’t a normal human, she shifts form into a panther and a strong one at that. Lucius a formidable vampire rescued from her own family as they wanted her dead. Lucius uses her for his own means controlling her ability to shift and only allows it when he wants her to kill another supernatural. She meets a sizzling hot male panther Jax and their inside cats are drawn towards each other. Lucius has other ideas and does his best to keep Jax and Kass estranged but that can’t last forever as the war between supernaturals pushes forward and Jax and Kass attraction towards each other heats up.

Kessler does a phenomenal job using excellent pacing, deep character development and descriptions that will knock the socks off any reader. The novel started to intrigue instantly hooking me into reading. The subsequent flow made this an impossible book to put down. Her words oozed like honey to my mind forcing me to continue. Plot, subplots, romance, and action fill each page. Each character has a personality all their own, some lovable and some very hateable, working together to make this a book you won’t want to pass up reading.

In the Light of the Moon is a rare treat. On to book 2!
