The Outlaw River Wilde by Mike Walters Bookreview
A most comical and engaging story!
Book Review:
The Outlaw River Wilde is a comical sci-fi alien book. Mitch is an usual character who grows curious when strange events start happening. His friend is shot with a disappearing arrow and Native Americans on horses make appearances. He manages to get stuff on camera and video as the story progresses and finds there’s more to it then he originally thought.
The author has a good voice for humor and makes this story a light hearted adventure. I will give away a sorta spoiler here and say it ends on a cliffhanger. The good news is book two is available. I was relieved when I saw that. I’m curious to find out what happens and learn more about the curious alien happenings.
Fun story for an afternoon of laughs.

Midnight Brunch, Book 2 in the Casa Dracula Series by Marta Costa Audiobook Review
Full of laughs!
My Review:
I first read book three in the Casa Dracula series a couple years ago. I just finished Midnight Brunch the second book in the series. I know I’m going backwards but it’s a fun series and for the careful reader they don’t need to be read in order, although, I’m sure it would make the series even better.
Milagro is a writer, well she tries, and who loves gardening. At one point she is bitten by a vampire.
Since I haven’t read book one I can’t offer more on that. The vampires and other super naturals in this book are simply humans with genetic chromosomal deformalities. In her case she lived whereas most people die. That being the case she has a few side effects that make her a little more than human. Her boyfriend Oswald is a vampire and a plastic surgeon. They live on a farm with his family.
I love this series and found myself laughing hysterically at times. The author’s creation of the world inside the story is genius and her descriptions are priceless. It’s far more than a romance, or comedy, or even paranormal. It’s a wonderful combination of everything and perfectly balanced.
I listened to book two on audio narrated by Patricia Fructuoso. She really did a fantastic job with the narration giving Milagro and the other characters more life. She consistent, clear and uses the stories clues to fluctuate her voice as needed.
Absolutely a book worth reading/listening too!

Forbidden Forestby Tenaya Jayne Audiobook Review
This was a new author and an entertaining listen.
My Review:
I really enjoyed the Forbidden Forest. I listened to this on the road and it’s been a couple weeks. Forest is the main character and she is a shifter/elf. The next vampire king is placed in her care while she transports him into the forest to see a wizard who took away his eyesight so he can restore it. As much as the story is about restoring his eyesight it’s not. It’s more a tale of love between Forest and the future vampire king.
What caught me and kept my attention was the imperfections in both. Forest as a half breed is unwelcomed or accepted by society and whoever heard of a blind vampire. No one. Their imperfections and how they handle them made it a good story. It gave them character as they journeyed into the forest and brought them together as they got to know one another.
I listened to the audio version I want to give the narrator Khristine Hvam her share in the story. She did an excellent job. In fact I think she gave the book justice. It was a great story but her narration breathed life that wasn’t there into the characters.
I love fantasy and suspense. This book had both. I absolutely recommend it for anyone who loves at least one. Fantastic story.

Illusions by Kristen Middleton Audiobook Review
Well, the final book in the Night Roamers series. I have to say it was a fun series.
My Review:
I have to start this saying I’m proud of myself for listening to an entire series within the same year. I normally don’t do that. It’s an enticing series with constant action and a good flow between narrative, dialogue and suspense.
Illusions being the last book in the Night Roamers series gave closure to a story that really could have gone on for longer. But I can’t give any spoilers here. Nikki gets her man – Duncan/ Ethan… err I can’t say. Some bad guys get their just desserts and Nathan… hmm… again I can’t give spoilers.
The narrator did grow on me but I was never sold by her performance, however, the story made up for her inadequacies.
The series as a whole is fun and entertaining. There’s suspense, intrigue and romance. Who in their right mind wouldn’t love it I don’t know. I did, great series.

Sabrina's Vampire by A.K. Michaels Book Review
A refreshing break as I write the third book in my thriller trilogy.
Sabrina’s Vampire is a fun story. Sabrina, a cop who’s on leave after a major incident. She knows she doesn’t have a job to come back to so takes a vacation to Las Vegas where she meets Kyle. Instantly the two are attracted to one another in a way neither can explain. She does things she’d never do and he can’t get her out of his mind. It’s really a sweet story.
The story flows quick and steady from one chapter to the next and there are plenty of steamy scenes to engage any reader. It’s the kind of book I enjoy after a plot twisting suspense so I will be reading the other two books in the series and looking forward to it.

Last Dance of the Roses by CS Patra Audiobook Review
I'm enjoying this author's versatility.
The Last Dance of the Roses is a kind of love story between Rose and Blake. They’ve known each other since they were small children. Now adults they carry on a sexual relationship. He is a musician and she a dancer. Her life is all about dancing and Blake worries. His loves her more than anything. As the story lapses we find out more about Roses past and see how it affects her future.
This is a slower paced story and the plot crescendos when a horrible accident befalls Rose. I’ve listened to a few books by this author and enjoy her versatility. She doesn’t stay within the structure of a single genre but crosses over many. So depending on my mood I could pull up anyone of her books and listen. Kudos to her.
I enjoyed the story and the narrator was good but a male narrator didn’t work for me with this story since it’s mostly about Rose. He also didn’t really have the voice for the pacing of this novel. I think a female narrator would have been a better choice but he did good.
Warning don’t read without a box of Kleenex.

The Contracts: The Reaper's Apprentice Book 2 by CS Patra Audiobook Review
Enjoying this series!
The Contracts: The Reaper’s Apprentice Book is about a group of demon slayers. This group in particular has been left out of missions and are disappointed over it. Eventually they are chosen for an important mission on their home soil. The series so far is about the relationship between demons and humans.

I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I did book 1. It had a
slower pace and was more difficult to follow but I did enjoy hearing the side
of the demon slayers and finding out more about them. There is a nice little
twist I didn’t expect at the end. Of course I can’t say what it is that would
give too much away. Overall it’s a decent read worth listening to.
I wasn’t so sure about the switch in narrators but he did a good job.

Fearing the Biker by Cassie Alexandra Audiobook Review
This series is intoxicating!
Fearing the Biker is the third book in the series and it focuses on the developing relationship between Jessica and Jordan. Jessica is a nurse who was raped by a biker in the very first chapter of the first book. The guilty biker was evil as they come. After that we learn nothing more about her yet we learn quite a bit about the biker who gets his just desserts. In book 3 we get to know her and she isn’t into the biker life at all but when her life is at stake she’s thrust into it and falls for Jordan better known as Judge.
The story flows quick moving from one action filled scene to the next. As a reader or listener I love that because it holds my attention. There are enough details to give a picture of what’s happening without bogging down the story. The author holds nothing back including language and explicit scenes. It’s not for younger readers but for adults and is very entertaining. The story didn’t disappoint.
The only thing that threw me was the switch to a different narrator. From an author’s perspective it makes perfect sense because the story centers around two new individuals as a listener it took me several chapters to get into the new narrator. No complaints, she did a great job.

What draws you to this genre?
Kirsten - Well, there are several genres that I’m drawn to, but
mostly I love a marriage of convenience story, and most of my books take that form.
Where do your ideas come from?
Kirsten - Every person I see, everything I hear gives me a new story idea. I just wish there was enough time to write them all!
What is the hardest thing about writing?
Kirsten - Actually keeping my butt in the chair long enough to get a book done. Let’s face it. That’s where the work is when it comes to writing. I really don’t mind edits much. And I love to write, but it’s hard to be disciplined enough to write book after book and keep the quality high.
What is the easiest thing about writing?
Kirsten - The ideas. I’ve had so many people ask me if I pay for ideas, and I just laugh. The ideas never stop!
If your latest release is part of a series, tell us a little about the series?
Kirsten - Longing in Louisiana is the eighth book of my At the Altar series. The series is about a middle-aged counselor, who realizes her favorite thing in life is watching people find their true loves. She opens a matchmaking business where she introduces people at the altar, hence the name of the series. They are all romantic comedies and so much fun to write!
Tell us a little about you as a person.
Kirsten - Hmmm…that’s a hard question. I love chocolate, sunsets, and staying up all night. I love the ocean and wish I lived closer to it, but I also love mountains and want to live closer to those. Of course, I hate the heat, so I would choose a mountain over a beach.
I write through the night, so the homeschooling doesn’t interrupt my schedule too much. I love spending time with my family. I’m a workaholic and very goal driven. If I set a goal for a day, I rarely allow myself to sleep before I reach it, unless there’s a really good reason for not reaching it. I love to read. I’m addicted to the Hallmark show When Calls the Heart, and I get overzealous about fangirling it.
Besides writing what are your favorite things to do?
Kirsten - I’m a huge fan of Disney. My family and I usually go to Disney World at least once per year. I have Disney stuff all over my house, including a big Cinderella castle in my living room. My favorite princess is Belle, and I know you were wondering! I enjoy movies, travel, and quiet days at home.
Do you have a favorite movie and/or book?
Kirsten - My favorite movie is Notting Hill. I watch it a couple of times per year when I want to shut my brain off and do nothing.

Tell us a little about you?
Kirsten - Born in Wisconsin, I moved to Texas when I was fifteen and have lived here since, except for a short stretch going to college in Louisiana. I married shortly after college graduation, and have a twelve-year-old son. I was a stay-at-home homeschooling mom up until three years ago, when my husband decided to be the stay-at-home adult-type-person. Now I get to devote full-time hours plus to writing. I’m in my happy place writing all day every day. It’s a beautiful thing when you can merge your hobby with your career.
So, what have you written?
Kirsten - I currently have seventy-five books available. I only write romance, but I write a lot of it! I’ve written short stories, novellas and novels.
Give us an insight into your main character?
Kirsten - The main character of Longing in Louisiana is Michelle Strempel, who is actually named after a fan of mine. She is a high school principal who is jilted just before her wedding, so she calls Dr. Lachele Simpson (named after another fan!) who agrees to find her the perfect man and introduce them at the altar.

Karen Ingalls Davida Book Review
I really enjoyed this book. It's well written and captivating.
My Review:
I chose to read this book as it’s unlike what I usually read and I really loved it. The story is based on a true story although, the author had to fill in the blanks. The book starts with Albertina, a young Swedish girl, traveling to the U.S. with her mother after the death of her father. They have family in the U.S. Albertina quickly grows into a beautiful young woman who catches the eye of Augustus Saint-Gaudens. He is an artist and wants to hire her as a model. They become involved in a relationship beyond that of model and artist.
This story is beautifully written and captivated me from start to finish. I can’t say I like Augustus at all. He seemed very emotionally selfish and inconsiderate but financially extravagant. Albertina on the other hand, I really liked. She was a strong woman but I question her taste in men. However, the story takes place soon after the civil war in the U.S. and the country was a very different place then. Part of the beauty in the writing is the feelings the story invoked in me. Only the most talented writers can do that.
